A visual index of works produced after the Ph.D.
Ryo Kajitani is a Tokyo-based artist and art model. His current practice explores the photographed body as a site of visibility, misrecognition, memory, and transformation.
Kajitani studied oil-based woodblock printmaking at Tama Art University from 2010 to 2014. As a graduate candidate in studio-based practice, he studied under the late Kunio Motoe, an art historian, and Yutaka Nakamura, a cultural anthropologist.
After completing his studies, Kajitani has worked as a full-time graphic designer and art model. Since 2021, alongside photography and collage, he has incorporated code-based image processing into his practice, developing photo-collage works that combine sensibility with engineering-oriented methods.
Recent achievements include a "Best of" selection by Novus Literary Arts Journal and republication in its Fall/Winter 2025/2026 print edition (2025), and the selection of Inward Red for the international photography exhibition Seeing Red at Gallery 13b, Slovenia (2026), and INT'L All Media 2026 at the Northwest Arts Center, Minot State University, USA (2026).

When I obtained my doctoral degree in 2019, I worked primarily as an image-processing operator in design, handling various image-processing tasks every day.
In late 2021, a sudden episode of phantom pain prompted me to begin restoring the record photographs I had accumulated and to embark on what I call “editing.”
The series Denoise Body Experiments relies on multiple stages, including photography, the application of a latent diffusion model to the recorded images, several image-processing filters written as .py scripts, editing in Photoshop, and printing.
Sensibility and engineering methods harmonize without contradiction. Collage also serves as a technical metaphor for manipulating nature and society.
Throughout this project, we are constantly exploring opportunities for collaboration and joint research.
Artist-led visual studio
We create visual materials for cultural, editorial, and commercial projects, working across photography, retouching, collage, graphic design, web production, and print.
Depending on the project, we support visual direction, concept planning, key visual development, shooting coordination, image production, front-end implementation, print-ready data preparation, and exhibition poster design.
